1. Program Overview

The University of Louisville recently purchased a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Unlimited Site License (USL). This license entitles all faculty and staff to assorted GIS software programs at vastly reduced rates. The software is developed by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) and goes by such titles as: Arc/Info, ArcView, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, and ArcLogistics Route. BACKGROUND

The USL provides access to most major software titles and data developed and marketed by ESRI. In May of 1999, the Logistics and Distribution Institute provided the start up funding for this project. Continued funding is required on an annual basis in order to renew this agreement.

BECOMING A LICENSEE

To become a participating licensee and purchase GIS software and data, you must:

    1. Agree to the term and conditions of the ESRI End User License Agreement
    2. (Section 5)

    3. If applicable, agree to the terms and conditions of the MSD End User
    4. License Agreement. (Section 6)

    5. Fill out the Order Form (Section 5, Attachment A)
    6. Submit Order Form, signed license agreementa(s), signed IUT or a check or money order made payable to UofL to:

RENEWAL

Each year, licensees' will be required to renew their license fee. This non-refundable fee is equal to the initial license fee, plus or minus any additional software added or dropped in the renewal period. The renewal fee guarantees continued technical support and critical software and data upgrades. All fees are applied to the annual renewal of the USL by the university to ESRI, and to cover in part, administrative costs.
